DEVELOPING A TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION BASED ON 5G CONNECTIVITY

PROJECT "DEVELOPMENT OF A DIGITAL TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTION BASED ON 5G CONNECTIVITY FOR REAL-TIME PERSONALISED DRIVER TRAINING"

Next Generation EU
New Age Lithuania

From July 2023 to December 2025, LAT Group, together with its partners Learnkey UAB and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, is implementing the project "DEVELOPMENT OF A DIGITAL TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTION SUPPORTED BY 5G BANDS FOR INDIVIDUALISED REAL-TIME DRIVER TRAINING" (Nr. 08-004-K-0014) within the framework of the progress measure of the Development Programme of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, the Manager of the Development Programme for the period 2022-2030, No. 10-001-05-04-01 "Increasing the value created by the transport system and the efficiency of the use of the infrastructure".

The main objective of the project is to develop an innovative digital technological solution, requiring 5G connectivity, for the real-time coaching and training of HGV (tractor-trailer) drivers, thus ensuring fully efficient (safe, cost-effective and environment-friendly) driving.

The main problem this project aims to tackle is inefficient driving of heavy vehicles and the high number of accidents caused by human error. The problem is addressed by providing personalised and continuous driver training based on real-time feedback and personalised learning content using telemetry data and 5G connectivity.

Targeted project results:

Improve road safety, reduce accidents caused by improper driving, and encourage more sustainable and efficient driving by truck drivers;

Promote sustainable development by reducing pollution from transport;

Provide equal opportunities for driver training regardless of gender, race, nationality, citizenship, language, origin, social status, creed, religion or belief, opinion, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability or other factors.

PROJECT BUDGET: EUR 1 571 378,00.

EU FUNDING: EUR 600 484,00.

Implementing Authority: the Central Project Management Agency.

The project is funded by the Economic Recovery and Resilience Plan "Next Generation Lithuania".
